DRAFT ENROLMENT SCHEME FOR

SANCTA MARIA CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL

 

MAXIMUM ROLL

 

The school’s maximum roll will be managed with the maximum roll prescribed in the school’s Integration Agreement. The number of places for non-preference students will be governed by the maximum allowable in the school’s Integration Agreement.

 

ENROLMENT PROCEDURES

 

The Establishment Committee of Sancta Maria Catholic Primary School has formulated procedures which will allow for the enrolment of new students. There is no restriction on who may apply for entry provided they fall within the legal description in the school’s Integration Agreement,

 

When the school receives more applications than places available, consistent with the Special Character of the school, preference will be given to families who have established a connection with the Catholic Church. Preference of enrolment is established by the Parish Priest or designated agent of the proprietor in accordance with the revised guidelines approved by the Catholic Bishop’s of New Zealand in 2003.

 

PRIORITY OF ENROLMENT

 

Applications for Enrolment will be assessed in the following order of priority:

 

Priority 1

Preference applicants who live in the area defined in the school’s zone (attached).

Amongst such applicants priority will be given in the following order

  • Applicants who are siblings of current students
  • Applicants who are siblings of former students
  • Other preference applicants

 

Priority 2

Preference students who live outside the school’s home zone but with the parish boundaries of the St Luke’s community. Amongst such applicants priority will be given in the following order

  • Applicants who are siblings of current students
  • Applicants who are siblings of former students
  • Other preference applicants

 

Priority 3

All other Preference applicants. Amongst such applicants priority will be given in the following order

  • Applicants who are siblings of current students
  • Applicants who are siblings of former students
  • Other preference applicants

 

 

Priority 4

Non-preference applicants who live in the area defined in the school’s zone. Amongst such applicants priority will be given in the following order

  • Applicants who are siblings of current students
  • Applicants who are siblings of former students
  • Other non-preference applicants

 

Priority 5

Other non-preference applicants. Amongst such applicants priority will be given in the following order

  • Applicants who are siblings of current students
  • Applicants who are siblings of former students
  • Other non-preference applicants

 

 

PRE-ENROLMENT

 

The pre-enrolment close off date will be the last day of September. Applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application during October of the year preceding enrolment.

 

The number of places for non-preference students will be governed by the maximum number allowable under the school’s Integration Agreement, which is 5% of the maximum roll.

 

If the total number of applications is greater than the number of places available, unsuccessful applicants will have their names recorded on the waiting list within the relevant category. They may be offered places at a later date if places become available according to the year level where the vacancy has arisen. The waiting list remains current until the Board notifies the public that it is inviting applications for the next enrolment intake.

 

The Board delegates to the Principal, as professional leader and manager of the school, the responsibility to administer this enrolment scheme.
