Haere mai – Welcome to Year 7, 2011!

My name is Amber Stevens and I am the Year 7 Dean responsible for the Pastoral Care of the Year 7 students at Sancta Maria College. Pastoral Care is about fostering connectedness between people and ideas, in a strong community with a shared purpose – to provide a safe, caring Catholic and disciplined environment for students. I will share in the responsibility of developing our Year 7 students physically, spiritually, academically and socially - by working closely with their Homeroom teachers, Senior Leadership, Counsellors and agencies. Specifically, our students will be encouraged to develop:

•A Catholic faith, where students discover God’s love and purpose in every aspect of daily life.
•A positive, learning attitude; striving for high standards of excellence.
•A sense of community; playing a part in providing an environment that is welcoming, supportive, caring, nurturing and safe.
•An acceptance of the uniqueness of other’s cultures and differences.

We have had an exciting start to the year: Open Day Mass, Year 7 Retreat and Red and Black Day! Many Year 7 students have already participated in sports events and have signed-up for various co-curricular activities! There is already a ‘Sancta Maria’ attitude present in Year 7!

Please contact me by email or phone if you have concerns regarding your child.

God Bless
Amber Stevens
