Mrs Croxford
I have been teaching at Sancta Maria College School for three years.
I believe that my methodical approach will enable me to facilitate success for all students. I am committed to the provision of equal opportunities for all students, irrespective of ability. I believe that Sancta Maria College ensures a positive ethos within the classroom which guarantees the highest possible standards of teaching and learning. I firmly believe that this in turn contributes to whole school ethos.
I want students who come into my classroom to enjoy what they are learning about! In order for this to happen two things are required; one I am responsible for, one you as a student are responsible for. There is a lot of talk these days about “my rights”, but very little about “my responsibility” so let me start by saying what I am responsible for and therefore what you should expect from me, then we’ll get onto your responsibility.

Mr Jones
I aim to provide a lively learning environment which will involve a variety of ways of learning. This will include opportunities to talk to each other (both in pairs and small groups), whole class discussions, solving “mysteries”, chances to show your flair at writing and reading a variety of genres, and the chance to do some hands on experiments in Science. Given the importance of computers in today’s world I aim to provide the opportunity for students to learn the important skills of research and word processing.
If as a student you think I am not meeting my responsibilities I am happy for you to come and talk to me and we can look at how we can change things.
Students, you too have responsibilities! The key one is to come into the classroom willing to honour our Lord by giving 100% in all the activities. I guarantee you, the more you give of yourself the more you will receive and benefit. If you give very little in group work or discussions, do the bare minimum in written activities, you will find classroom life quite dull. Give your all, and you will find your enjoyment levels increasing, your grades improving and your assessment results improving.
I look forward to welcoming you to my classroom.

I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas.
The implementation of a range of teaching approaches such as co-operative learning, inquiry and other methods to foster student growth encourage the inquisitive mind and the pursuit of knowledge and are integral to the development of the student experience.
The programmes must be planned, implemented and assessed to relate to the children in an authentic context so it is relevant and meaningful. They will incorporate problem-solving approaches and set up experiences for students to transfer their new skills to similar but different situations. Children are presented with choices in order for them to make informed/responsible decisions and know that they have consequences.

Mrs Johnston
I decided to become a teacher when I was seven because I loved to learn, to be challenged and to explore the world around me. I believe my role is to share my passion for learning so that the students of today are prepared for the constantly changing world of tomorrow.
At Sancta Maria College I am able to provide unique learning opportunities where students are extended and challenged daily to prepare them for the real world. I am able to guide, support, nurture and encourage all students to meet their potential. Students are also encouraged to be active learners. They are supported so they are able to take responsibility for their learning and achievement and develop independence and critical thinking.
At Sancta Maria College there is a focus on the partnership between the School, Families and the Catholic Church. I encourage constructive discussion because student achievement, personal success and individual self confidence for young people is achieved when we all work together for the benefit of the student involved.
