Social Studies

Social Studies looks at the way in which people interact with each other and their environments. It is also concerned with the reasons why people – both in the past and present – have behaved in particular ways and the consequences of their actions.

Social Studies is studied from Year 7 - 10. Students can then continue studying Social Sciences in Year 11 with History and/or Geography.

Geography
Geography is the study of the relationship between humans and their environment. Students can take this subject in Years 11 - 13.

In the subject of Geography we aim to bring students closer to, as well as make them more aware of, the world around us. We encourage them to see beyond the accepted norms of their daily lives and to become objective, independent thinkers.

History

This is one of those big questions! I really like what historian and TV personality, Michael Wood, has to say about it: “We're all interested in where we came from. You look at your own life, as a kid you ask your parents and grand parents about their past and you do projects when you're at primary school … how different our grand parents lives were from ours … it’s a humanising subject … it teaches you about you and your country and the way things came to be.” For me, history is the most fantastic subject and gives you a sense of where you fit into the world.
