Policy 6.4 : Uniform and Appearance

Rationale:

The Board seeks to maintain a college environment that reflects quality and equality through the wearing of a school uniform. As an ambassador of Sancta Maria College it is expected that students will take pride in their appearance.

Guidelines

1. The Board requires all students to wear the uniform as published by the school in its enrolment information.

2. Enforcing the code to wear the uniform will be the delegated responsibility of the Principal and staff.

3. Changes to the uniform will be made by the Board.

Any change will seek to maintain the school colours in the uniform.

The wearing of the school uniform and abidance of the supplementary Appearance Code are conditions of enrolment at the college.

From time to time the Principal may allow students to wear non-regulation clothing for short periods of time without removing the requirement to wear school uniform on a regular basis.

4. Students are expected to maintain a high standard of appearance whenever they are identified as Sancta Maria College students and / or are representing the school.

5. All sports uniforms are to be approved by the Board of Trustees or through delegated authority to the Principal. Sports uniform must be worn when representing the school.
