Year 7 & 8 Religious Education

Aims

To develop appropriate skills, attitudes and values through the effective delivery of the Learning Strands and Learning Modules in the Religious Education programme

To enable children to develop ways of faith, life and culture

To integrate aspects of Religious Education with other Essential Learning Area where appropriate

Course Outline

The students will study:

Year 7

Year 8

The Special Character of Sancta Maria College (A few lessons at the start of the year focused on the key words and college acronym)

God Strand - God's Desire for Humanity

Jesus Christ Strand - Jesus Saviour and Liberator

The Holy Spirit Strand - The Holy Spirit In Scripture

Community of Disciples Strand - The Teaching Church

Sacrament Strand - Called for Others

Communion of Saints Strand - Choices

Jesus Christ Strand - His Values and the Role of Disciples Today

The Holy Spirit Strand - The Mission of the Holy Spirit in the Church and in the World

Church Strand - The Living Church

Sacrament Strand - Commitment

Communion of Saints Strand - Life, Death and Christian Hope

Also the students will learn the prayers of the Church and will have the opportunity to write their own and to take part in the reflective part of our programme

 

Assessment

The students will be assessed by:

  • Work in their workbooks

  • Attitudes and conduct

  • Effort in class work

  • Contributions to the programme

  • Summative assessment on work covered (where applicable)
