Friday 17 November saw a group of athletes from Year 7 and 8 compete in the South Eastern Zone Athletics Competition at Mt Smart Stadium.
Some of the events that the athletes competed in were : long jump, high jump, discus, shotput, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m and 100m relays. Our Year 7 Girls were the highlight of the day, with Nina Wilson and Casey Lototau dominating their events.
Nina Wilson came 3rd in the 200m, 5th in the 100m and won the Year 7 Girls shot put and set a new record in the discus where she also placed 1st. Casey Lototau came 1st in the 100m and 2nd in the 200m. Both girls also competed in the Year 7 Girls relay leading the team with Jamie Curry and Yalaina Tubu and came 4th place overall, narrowly missing out on Inter-Zone qualification by 0.1 seconds.
