1st XV gain first win of season

A competitive and confident performance saw our 1st XV run out 26-10 winners against Kings College. The game was highlighted by a stunning solo try by Peter Halafihi while Vissesio Tangifua received the man of the match award for a tenacious display in both attack and defence.

The first quarter saw Sancta Maria College have clear territorial advantage while having very little of the ball. It was not until Kings College began to work their way into their opponent’s half that Sancta Maria took the lead. Peter Halafihi picked up the ball on the half way line, surging past several defenders, before racing clear to score under the posts. A successful conversion saw SMC out to a 7-0 lead.

As Kings gained more possession and territory they began to look dangerous and were rewarded with an unconverted try to bring the score back to 7-5.

The second half belonged to Sancta Maria College and Vissesio Tangifua in particular. Three tries scored and only one conceded saw the 1st XV run out comfortable 26-10 winners. A first win for the season and a much improved performance.
