Young cricketers show promise

It was great to see the cricket eleven, composed of Year 7 to 10 students, take the field on Saturday morning, looking the part in their team gear. They came up against a very strong St Kents Year 9/10 team.

Bowling first the boys did well to restrict St Kents to 135 for 4 from their 20 overs. Oscar Stewart was the pick of our bowlers, taking 3 wickets for 6 runs from his 4 overs, while Jayden Correia bowled very tightly only conceding 16 runs from his 4 overs and Johnathan Aviet picked up a good wicket.

When batting we struggled to put together partnerships and in the end reached 77 runs so fell short by 58 runs. Hayden Waters did well with the bat, looking solid and finishing on 13 not out. The performance gives the team plenty to work on but is an encouraging start.
