Careers Expo allows Year 11 to explore pathways

Ruiqi Jiang, Winnie Zou, and Audrey Basilio

The day began with Year 11s arriving to the auditorium in their house groups, along with Mrs Roger’s, who guided us through the ‘Careers Day’ at Howick Leisure Centre.

Upon arrival at the event, each student had the opportunity to explore the multiple career choices on display and university opportunities inside and outside of Auckland to prepare themselves for future pathways. Renowned institutions such as University of Auckland, Melbourne University, University of Waikato and Air New Zealand were present to inform us of possible career pathways and opportunities. Additionally, the stalls distributed pamphlets while others hosted interactive mini games to facilitate and sustain interest among our students.

Not only were we exposed to multiple career options, but we were also introduced to students from other schools who we interacted with and shared our career goals and ideas with.

As the Careers Expo concluded for Sancta Maria College students, we were all thankful we had the opportunity to explore and learn about a variety of career pathways, helping us gain insight into how we can contribute to the future global society through the things we are passionate about.  Thank you to the Careers Department for organising this event for us.
