Mr Williamson (HoD for Science) joins with ‘Trees for Survival’ (TFS) annually and one Sancta Maria College classroom, during a one-day intense planting venture, which sees a targeted area rejuvenated with New Zealand native plants. This planting day is well planned in advance and is undertaken during the winter months to ensure the newly replanted seedlings have the greatest chance for survival.

Would you believe it, they all worked through their morning tea to complete the task, which wasn’t quite finished during their lesson. An exciting addition in 2026 will see our incoming Year 7 and 8 students having the opportunity to join TFS as part of their kaitiakitanga service. Thanks for the hard mahi everyone – we look forward to hearing where your seedlings will be planted next year.
