Ash Wednesday and Opening Mass joins our school community

“Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” Genesis 3:19.

On Wednesday 18 February 2026, students and staff members joined together in Mass to begin a time for reflection and repentance. The school community united in prayer, preparing their hearts for the Lenten journey and the commencement of our new school year.

During Mass, Father Benedict Francis spoke about the significance of Lent and the importance of strengthening our faith during this time. This Mass was also the first time the Worship Choir sang for a school event, adding a special and uplifting feeling to the liturgy.

The distribution of ashes was a beautiful moment, symbolising humility and our call to Pray, Fast and give alms as we journey through this Lenten season.

On this day, we blessed the Head prefects, as they washed the hands of the two youngest students in our school. This signified their commitment to serve and lead our school following the footsteps of Christ. Overall, the Ash Wednesday Mass was a meaningful opportunity for the school community to join in faith, pause, reflect, and begin the Lenten season together.
