A double dose of victory for premiers

An early wake up, once again, for the girls of the Premier netball team.

With an 8:30am game against the premier team from Diocesan, our girls were fired up and ready to go. Starting off a bit shakily, the girls were able to regain their composure and continue to pick up the pace, leading at the end of each quarter.

An aggressive defensive effort from the opposition led to warnings being called by the umpires and advantages being given to Sancta Maria College.

After having such a strong start to the game, the girls unfortunately seemed to slightly crumble in the last quarter, but in no way gave Diocesan the opportunity to gain any kind of lead. With the sound of the final buzzer, the players, coaches and supporters could breathe a sigh of relief knowing that we had won.

Going into their second and final game of the day, the Sancta Maria Premier team were able to gain a slight lead against the Senior 5 team of Mellons Bay in the first quarter.

Neck and neck the whole way through, the battle between both teams raised the intensity of both the players and the supporters with an immense amount of yelling and screaming from both side-lines.

With the Mellons Bay team evening out the scores mid-way through the last quarter, the players from Sancta found the urgency that they needed, with help from the very loud, but encouraging parents and supporters.

An incredible effort from our defensive team and an astounding performance from our shooters saw the Premier team come out with their second win of the day.

Nothing but joy and relief filled the air once we heard that final buzzer, finishing the day with 2 out of 2 well-earned wins.
