A ‘Down Right Perfect’ Day for Buddy Walk 2017

With the buzz of live music resonating in our ears and the crisp morning air filling our lungs, the Buddy Walk 2017 event started off in the best way possible.

Soon the ‘Down Right Perfect’ down-syndrome people of all ages came rolling in with their families. The atmosphere of the event escalated to that of exhilaration and excitement. With their muscles warmed-up and their hearts pumping, the end of the jump-jam signified the beginning of the Buddy Walk for 2017.

As the walkers headed off on their adventure, the Sancta Maria College volunteers stayed behind to make sure that all the stalls and activities were set-up and ready to go for when the buddy walkers got back.

The Auckland Down Syndrome Association did an amazing job in organising this event and the Sancta Maria College students could not have been happier with the outcome of the event. From assisting at the climbing wall to playing with the children on the bouncy castles to filling everyone’s tummies with scrumptious sausages, the SMC buddy walk crew tried to help out everywhere they could and make the most of the day.

With smiles all around the park, it was hard not to be happy and excited, making this a day to remember.
