A record breaking Athletics Day

Athletics Day saw several records broken, including one from the early days of the College. Sean Daniels’ intermediate boys (U16) 100m record of 11.60 had stood since 2006 until beaten by Tristan Tulangi’s 11.53 seconds last week.

Another long standing record fell when Anna Faulkner completed the intermediate girls 800m in 2:38.25, eclipsing the 2:43.56 set by Patria Harris in 2009.

Abby Noble-Campbell now holds two records after taking out the senior girls (U19) high jump, clearing 1.49m and winning the 200m in 28.10s.

Two further records were broken in the intermediate girls section with Erica Lim claiming the 100m in 12.96s and Tanya Murray smashing the shot put record she set only last year by 79cm, throwing 12.87m.

Not to be outdone, two junior boys (U14) records were broken, Zac Saunders clearing 1.57m in the high jump and Felix Cheng becoming the first Sancta Maria College student at this grade to go under one minute in the 400m, setting a new best time of 59.82s.
