Our Year 12 and 13 Gateway students participated in a Schools’ Health and Safety programme run by Safety ‘n Action.

Being the opening performance for the NZEAL conference was quite daunting but one of the College’s Jazz combos rose to the occasion superbly, impressing everyone with their performance.

At 7.55am this morning the flight from Tokyo landed at Auckland Airport returning our students and teachers safely home. They will have numerous stories to tell about memorable experiences and new friendships.

On Wednesday, 25th April, our prefects and some members of staff marched in the morning ANZAC ceremony at Stockade Hill in Howick.

A Thursday evening flight back to Auckland means Wednesday is the last opportunity for a full day’s shopping. Nothing else to do but head to the shopping districts of Harajuku, Shibuya and Akihabara.

Tuesday saw the group take a trip to Tokyo Disneyland which proved to a day of fun for one and all.

On Monday the tour group visited the Ghibli Anime Museum, Shinjuku and the Ginza (downtown Tokyo) on a day of exploration.

Returning to Tokyo the group took some time out to catch up on their Study Tour tasks. We went to Akihabara (sometimes referred to as “Electric Town”) in the late afternoon staying until night as the brightly glowing lights of a multitude of shop signs along straight streets makes a spectacular view.

Saturday means time to hit the cultural trail with your host family. An opportunity for a fun-filled day and the chance to savour new experiences.
