Today was a celebration and thanksgiving, yet also a day of tearful farewells for the Year 13s as they left to begin their study leave. It also saw the school candle pass from our head boy and girl to our two youngest students, to be held safely until our opening Mass of 2017.

Last weekend the Auckland Middle Schools Art Exhibition had their grand opening at the Corbans Estate, Henderson. Congratulations to the Year 7 and 8 students from Sancta Maria College for their wonderful work that contributed to this show.

The artistic talent of our senior students never fails to amaze and surprise. This year’s exhibition of their NCEA work did just that and more.

We have had a great time bringing you the news this year. Now it is time for the News Centre team to hand over to the Year 9 and 10 reporters, as they head off on study leave to prepare for their exams.

The Year 13 Food and Hospitality students had the opportunity to produce and sell products that they have been working on during the past term. The food products were a big hit and sold out pretty quickly, receiving rave reviews from the students.

With only a week to go before he begins his final study leave at Sancta Maria College, Vincent Brzozowski is signing off from us with a musical flourish. As a trumpeter, he has recently been in Christchurch rehearsing and performing with the National Secondary Schools’ Brass Band, whilst only last week he was at the Raye Freedman Arts Centre, representing the school at the Ronisch Auckland Secondary Schools’ Piano Competition.

Every year Sancta Maria College Art Department enters work from a selection of their Year 7 and 8 students into the Auckland Middle Schools Art Exhibition.
