Easter Blessings – Message from the Principal

Dear Parents/Caregivers/Whanau

Today, Holy Thursday is Day 1 of the Triduum starting from sundown and ending at sundown on Friday and consists of the liturgies of Holy Thursday and Good Friday.  This evening, we celebrate the Mass of the Lord’s Last Supper.  It is celebrated in the evening because the Passover began at sundown and highlights the Presentation of the Holy Oils, Washing the Feet of the Apostles and the Procession of the Eucharist to the Alter of Repose.  On Day 2 of the Triduum, the Sacraments are not celebrated and silence is observed during the waiting or Vigil.  The Easter Vigil occurs on Day 3 at sundown and in the evening celebrates the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ.  Easter Sunday is both the final hours of the Triduum and the first 50 days which will end on Pentecost.

Holy Week is the most important in the Christian Catholic Calendar.  With the early closure of the College, we are disappointed that our own Easter Liturgy couldn’t take place today.  Sadly, we have had to cancel a number of school events and we anticipate rescheduling these early next term.

From this morning, the Auckland Council have returned to the Campus and are currently investigating the causes of the flooding and blockage to the drains.  We are hopeful of a positive outcome in the next few days that is satisfactory to the school community.

We farewell the French and Classical Studies tour to France tomorrow and we wish them a safe and enjoyable trip.

Please check with your local Parish as to the arrangements for the Easter highlights over the next days.

With Easter Blessings,

Louise Moore

Principal
