Eventful day out for equestrian team

Sancta Maria College’s Equestrian Team competed in the Waiuku College Equestrian Event last week. As opposed to an ODE (One Day Event), the teams had the opportunity to choose which category they wanted to compete in.

I can say for sure that all of us enjoyed the day which was held at Waiuku Pony Club – Ellie Strachan and her horse Dex (right) competed in the show hunter rounds at heights of 60cm and 70cm, the two of them coming 6th equal in the 60cm. Participating in the show jumping was Caley Everett and her horse Cobber (second from the left), who had two good rounds at 75cm and 85cm with only one rail down in each. I competed on my pony Rosie in dressage alongside the fourth member of our composite team who was representing Hauraki Plains College (left), winning my first test and coming 12th in my second.

The team may have not come anywhere overall, but thanks to all the organisers, our wonderful horses and our parents who chauffeured us to the venue and back, Wednesday was a very enjoyable experience!
