I was lucky enough to be chosen, amongst 15 other students, by Te Tuhi Centre for the Arts, to participate in the ‘Five days in the Art World’ programme. This was such a valuable experience in which to participate.
It helped me determine if visual arts is the right career path for me. I was able to immerse myself in artistic environments such as Elam School of Fine Arts, AUT School of Art and Design, Auckland City Art Gallery, The McCahon house, Rannoch and Corban Estate Arts Centre. I engaged with many artists who gave me an insight into the art world, and showed me different ways of developing my own art practice. I found this 5 day experience totally worthwhile and I would encourage interested students to apply for this next year.
