It was a beautiful Saturday 2 May 2026… but this was no ordinary Saturday for our Year 12 and 13 students – it was the night of the 2026 Sancta Maria College ‘House of Cards’ Senior Ball. Attended by most of our Year 12 and 13 students, and teachers and staff, it was a highlight all of us were looking forward to since the start of the year.
The event was hosted at the Ellerslie Convention Centre, bringing a dance floor and DJ, photo booths, lights, food and drinks, and an incredible time. Everyone showed up in classy outfits: stunning suits and glamorous dresses, and many took limousines and party buses to arrive in style.
Our senior prefect team started the night off with some incredible choreography: a sentimental slow dance captured everyone’s attention, before a selection of fun, fast dances were showcased by students across the Year 13 cohort. We were then treated to a warm introduction and an even warmer buffet-style dinner, with an array of foods to choose. After eating came the life of the show, the dancing, while many others scurried away to take photos with others at the various stations.
Throughout the night, students were asked to nominate and vote for someone to win the following awards.
Congratulations to these students, who won:
Ball King: Nathan Mlinde

This incredible night would not have been possible without the help of everyone involved – notably the Ball Committee, Mr Bali, Senior Leadership, the staff at Ellerslie Convention Centre, and all others involved who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring our annual ball to life. Thank you to all those who attended and made ball so special; the memories made that night will never be forgotten.
