We welcomed six new international students from China into our school whānau and two new international homestay co-ordinators (Aimee Wang and Carmen McKnight), at the beginning of term 2 – please make them feel welcome as you see them in school. The students are:
- Bernice (Zeyang) Liu
- Celia (Zhenyue) Yuan
- Roxy (Ruoqui) Yin
- Vicky (Yuyan) Ding
- Willima (Mingzhi) Wei
- Kokomi Hiza
During the term, we also had a group of 30 students from Jia Xing (our sister school in China) spend just three days in our Year 10 classes.
They were formally welcomed into and whānau with a mihi whakatau by our kapa haka students and Principal, Ms Moore – Ms Moore and their Deputy Principal also exchanged gifts. The students quickly immersed themselves in New Zealand culture and life both at school and with their homestay families – some students even made pavlova on their first day with us.
In addition, we also said a fond farewell to Prim Leelasiriwanich at the end of May as she returned to university studies in Thailand – she first joined us in 2019 for short term study and then returned for full time study in 2023.
