Jenna Wins Award

Last Saturday November 17, alto saxophonist Jenna Aspeling received an award from Howick School of Music for the highest mark from ABRSM Grade 7 and 8 exams, gaining 142/150. Jenna was invited to play a solo piece to showcase her achievement at All Saints’ Church.

Year 10 student Jenna, who started playing the saxophone about two years ago, is a member of the College’s premier jazz groups ‘The Swingin’ 8s’ and the ‘Big Band’.

Jenna is influenced by the music of jazz greats such as John Coltrane, Charlie Parker and Stan Getz. Her passion for jazz is aroused by the room to improvise and make the music her own.
