Last week saw the culmination of much practice and preparation as our Concert Band and Jazz Band took part in the KBB Music Festival at Holy Trinity and St Mary’s Churches in Parnell.
Mr Arthur led the Concert Band in the morning session and they played Arabian Dances, First Light and Celtic Air and Dances. As with the Orchestra on Tuesday, the musicians were from across the breadth of our school, featuring students from all year groups. The judges were suitably impressed and awarded them a Bronze Award.
In the afternoon session, Mr Cho’s Jazz Band played Route 66, Horn of Puente, Respect, Splanky and Detroit. Again, their strong performance won over the judges and resulted in a Silver Award.
It is wonderful for the students and the school to receive such recognition on a grand stage and bodes well for the future of Music at Sancta Maria College
