Meet our new staff

Kieran Gutry

I am a Health and Physical Education teacher that teaches from Year 7-12. I am also helping out coaching the Year 7 Boys football team and the U15A Boys’ team.  I love the amazing work ethic and positive attitudes that the students have here at Sancta Maria College and the amazing PE Department.

A little bit about me: currently I’m involved with football at Otahuhu Football Club and take the Men’s First team, I played for 10 years at Fencibles and have also been involved with Bucklands Beach.

Something you may not know about me: I worked here back in 2019 to the end of 2020 as a Sports Co-ordinator.

Ross Curle

I am the new Property Manager for the school – thank you to the team, who have made me feel so welcome and supported since I started at the beginning of the Term 2.

A little bit about me: I love travel – my recent travel was in April to the Philippines. Originally from Tasmania, my first travel was in my 20s which sparked a love for seeing the world.  I have two grown daughters and one granddaughter – one lives back in Tasmania and the other lives in England.  This gives me a good excuse, every year, to travel and see them.

Something you may not know about me: I have lived in New Zealand for 33 years and am just applying for my citizenship.  I’ve gone through three pairs of shoes since I started here at school and had to borrow a pair of socks the other day as my feet got so wet from all the rain!

Jayna Pedersen

I am the new Technology Assistant, taking over for Annie for Term 2.  I have found the staff are all so supportive and welcoming, it has made settling in so much easier.

A little bit about me: I have a seven-year-old Pomeranian dog named Jinxx and I enjoy painting, playing games and being out in nature. I am also a massive animal lover.

Something you may not know about me: I dress up as a character every year at Auckland Armageddon and have been doing so since 2017!

Paul Krause

I am the new Sports Co-ordinator.  I love the wide range of sports that our school has to offer and how keen so many students are to be involved in our numerous amount of teams.

A little bit about me: I was born and raised in England but have now lived in New Zealand for almost four years. I’ve spent a lot of time working around the world in outdoor education, but I have always been massively into sport – currently play football for Papakura FC and am a big fan of Arsenal FC. I also like to mountain bike, run athletics, go hiking, snowboarding, surfing, plus many more (see the picture above of me surfing).

Something you may not know about me: I am an avid traveller and currently I have visited 40 different countries around the world. My next big trip planned is to visit Nepal and hike to Mount Everest base camp and back (fingers crossed).

Mari Jefthra is a new Teacher Aide.

Makayla Vercoe is a new Art Teacher in the Art Department.

Welcome to all new staff into our school whānau and we hope you make them all feel welcome as you see them around our school.
