Orienteering comes to an end…almost

A highlight of our season is the news that Harrison Edwards and Ryan Clifford have been invited to take part in the School Sprint Orienteering Final on Saturday April 1. Harrison and Ryan have consistently been in the top 10 of approximately 150 Y8 boys in the Tuesday afternoon competitions.

It has been great to see Sancta Maria College students giving the sport of orienteering a go, and enjoying themselves.

This week our group of 16 students took part in the last round of weekly competition for the term at Pakuranga College. They celebrated the last week of competition with a cake baked by Mrs Churton. It sure made running around the school with a map more rewarding by having a lovely chocolate cake to tuck into at the end.

However, this is not quite the end. Our next event will be the South Eastern Zone School Orienteering Championship on the April 4 at Lloyd Elsmore Park. We are planning to enter 2 mixed boys and girls teams. Parents are welcome to attend.

A big thank you to all the parents who have turned up after school to help out. It would not have been possible without your support.

We look forward to next year when the senior students will be invited to join in as well.
