Mikaela Bangalan and Diego Carrillo Trevino, our Head Prefects for 2025, take pride in their leadership roles as they serve as a bridge between the prefects and the Senior Leadership Team.
“Our role,” Mikaela explains, “is to overlook the prefect team and to ensure that all portfolios have what they need for their designated events or tasks.” Diego adding, “We also ensure that the prefects are not stressing or being overwhelmed by their duties. This involves regularly checking in with them and supporting them in their portfolio events.”
Their strong partnership is a key factor in their success. Their excellent communication and organisational skills—combined with their ability to stay in sync when making important decisions—are what make them such an effective duo.
Beyond their leadership positions within the school, Mikaela and Diego thrive as individuals outside. Mikaela is a very family-oriented person who loves to play football, represented New Zealand at U17 FIFA World Cup in 2024 and continuing her playing through the Fencibles United Football club in their Women’s First team in 2025. Diego is a Youth Group Leader at St. Luke’s Parish and enjoys relaxing by playing football after school.
With their shared motivation and team spirit, Mikaela and Diego are dedicated to being positive, reliable role models for our student body.
