Our Premier Netball Team

Sancta Maria College participates in an extensive range of sports including netball. After the highly anticipated grading rounds, the exciting 2019 season of netball begun. Our Sancta Maria Premier Netball Team has many hopes for the coming season. The team consists of 10 talented young players: Aerin Henry, Sina Maunsell-Young, Hannah Ralph-Smith, Holly Maunsell-Young, Gemma Holt, Sarah Wallen, Shawna Stowers, Jorey Matulino, Sophia Ibbetson and Ashleigh Swainbank.

They all started playing netball at a young age and have enjoyed it ever since. From netball they not only learn skills on the court but benefit from personal fitness keeping them all active. Alongside this, they develop new friendships with the girls inside and outside the school and form closer bonds.

The Premier team trains three times, including one 6am morning training, each week. Their manager is Kathryn Stonehouse. Recently they won their grade’s pre-season tournament allowing them to receive $100 towards the funding of UNIS. UNIS is the September tournament on the North Shore they are excited to be taking part in.

This season they are competing at the Auckland Netball courts as well as Howick Pakuranga Netball Centre. We encourage other girls to give the sport a try as it is a fun way to connect with others and to learn how to work together as a team. It also keeps you fit and can improve many skills such as communication, cooperation, hand-eye coordination and much more. We wish all the girls in the team good luck for the year.
