Sancta Maria College Year 13 student, Paige Butterworth continued her outstanding run of sports achievements for 2017 by winning Student Coach of the Year at the 27th Annual Young Sportsperson of the Year Awards.
These were held last night at Eden Park with nearly 500 finalists and guests in attendance. Melodie Robinson was the MC for a great evening celebrating over 160 outstanding secondary school athletes from the greater Auckland area.
Current World Champion Black Ferns Eloise Blackwell, Sosoli Talawadua, Selica Winiata and Aldora Itunu presented awards throughout the evening and spoke about their successful 2017 Rugby World Cup campaign.
Paige was captain and Most Valuable Player of Sancta Maria College 1st XI Hockey team and also won the Student Coach of the Year award at our Sports Awards evening. Paige is a terrific student, leader and role model for all developing coaches and we look forward to tracking her progress in the years to come.
