Police Programme Loved by Lots!

Last Friday the Year 12 students attended the ‘Loves me not’ programme run by the New Zealand Police.

The ‘Loves me not’ programme was set up by the Sophie Elliot foundation. ‘Loves me not’ helps educate students to understand and talk about relationships. It explains what an awesome healthy relationship should be like and consist of and how to recognise the signs of an unhealthy relationship and know how to get out of one safely.

Through engaging activities the students gained this knowledge of how to ask for help, giving consent and doing the right thing. Overall the programme was extremely worthwhile in helping the students build their character as well as learning new things at the same time.

At times the workshop was moving as well as being profound and intense. Despite the seriousness of these things, everyone did have a lot of fun at the same time and although the police officers were slightly intimidating at first by the end of the day everyone was sad to see them go as they proved to be so approachable.
