Last Wednesday, Quintin Wong competed in the Auckland School Swimming Championships held at West Wave, Aquatic Centre in Henderson. The day was full of challenges to overcome, but Quintin was able to qualify 11th for both events. Quintin managed to finish 9th for backstroke with a time of 32.12, and 6th for breaststroke with a time of 35.96.
“I felt really happy with my results because I’ve never ranked in the top 10 before. I can’t believe I ended up coming 9th for backstroke and 6th for breaststroke! My times were unexpected results, but I’m so proud that they ended up being my personal bests. I was surprised with my 50 metres backstroke results because for the first time in my life, I achieved a time under 36 seconds”.
Quintin Wong went up against many top swimmers during this event and still managed to come in the top 10. Even though he is only an intermediate student, it is obvious that this swim star will go far in his sporting career.
