RNZAF delivers experiences for high fliers

During the school holidays a small group of students had a chance to visit the RNZAF Base Auckland in Whenuapai and see what it is, the technical trades do, to keep the air force running smoothly.  Attendees were shown around different units within the base that have an engineering focus. Students also had lunch in the mess hall, got to meet the new Chief of Air Force and spend time on the C-130 Hercules aircraft.

It was a wonderful day with lots of exciting things happening within the Air Force, as they gear up for the delivery of their new C-130J aircraft.  Five C-130-J were recently purchased for the Royal New Zealand Air Force to replace the current C-130 Hercules. The new aircraft are on track for delivery next year.  Students had the opportunity to see staff using the simulators for these new aircraft, with defence personnel currently in training, to get ready for the new fleet.

The Seasprite Helicopters were also in action whilst on base.  If you are interested in a career in the Defence Force or RNZAF, click this link.
