SMC Brings Home Two Firsts from the Junior French Speech Competition

Our Year 8-10 French students had the opportunity to present their French speech on Thursday at the Auckland Junior French Speech Competition. Two of our students, Claudia Mistar (Year 9) and Sofia Olan (Year 8) made us proud, both placing first in their category.

In between speeches, there was quiz time, singing and poetry. At morning tea and lunch, crepes were sold to add to the French experience.

The speech topics included ‘Something I Love’ and ‘Teenager’s’. We would like to thank Madame Read for organising this and for giving up her lunchtimes to prepare us for our French speeches.  Special thanks also to Astrid for helping us with our pronunciations.

Congratulations to our winners: Claudia Mistar and Sofia Olan and also to all those who participated in this year’s competition: Daniel Pereira, Ella Dickens, Jennifer Joseph, Thomas George, Mikayla Killip, Norris Chan, Gemma Holt and Sydney Causer.
