SMC ‘Twilight Blush’ Ball 2020

November 6th marked the day that every senior student was waiting for: the Senior Ball held at Ellerslie Events Centre.

Due to COVID 19, the Year 12s and 13s had halted their plans for a magical night, until plans finally came together on their last Friday of the school year.

Our wonderful ball committee, who worked tirelessly throughout the year, transformed the ground floor venue into a beautiful Twilight Blush.

Numerous Year 13 students did an amazing job planning out the decorations, venue, tickets, seating arrangements and music to name a few things.

Young ladies went through preparations with their makeup, dresses, pedicures and manicures, while young men had to find suits and shoes. Some students also went out with a bang, by renting a limo to the venue.

Every year, it is not a school ball without Royalties. The Year 12 Prince and Princess were awarded to Danielle Noronha and Thomas Simpson, while the Year 13 King and Queen were awarded to Joshua Lozano and Ysabel Corpuz.

After the announcement, a large group of Year 13s were able to showcase their prepared dance for the first time in front of a crowd. The students spent the last couple of months practicing every Tuesday and Thursday after school. Hennessey Catayas, who choreographed the routine was praised for her hard work by many who were there. The dance floor then burst with energy, with everyone (including teachers) singing and dancing their hearts out until the night concluded at 11:30pm.

We would like to give a huge thank you to our Ball Committee and staff who were involved in making this ball possible. It was a great way to end the students’ magical night.
