Students and staff join in Gumboot Friday

In support of mental health, many Sancta Maria College students and staff chose to switch their everyday school shoes for the traditional Kiwi Gumboot on Friday. The money raised from this initiative will help fund free counselling for students.

Mike King, a Mental Health campaigner hopes that this event will raise $2 million for the mental health charity ‘I am Hope’.

Mike King says, “Having depression is like walking through mud every day.” By putting on our gumboots it gives the message that we care, we’re listening and ready to get through the mud together.”
