Super students visit super cars

The Supercars Students on Track programme was a great opportunity for teachers and students to spend a day trackside at the Pukekohe Raceway ITM Event. Students were able to go trackside to watch the drivers, engineers and team owners run through their paces and get the cars ready for racing.

They were able to experience the thrill of watching the Supercars practice sessions and the off track excitement. The idea of this trip was for students to see how classroom learning can translate to life on the race track.

The Year 8s and 10s saw how their life can relate to a car on the race track. The track is a journey everyone has to compete in, you may become stuck by obstacles but you soon get through them. You may make mistakes and crash but you learn from those mistakes and get back on track. There was a lot to learn from talking to mechanics, media people, organisers, and even the drivers themselves.

Overall the students were able to take away an unforgettable lesson that they can use in their day to day lives. The message that they need to keep on pushing to the finish line especially with exams and assessments right around the corner.
