Thanksgiving Mass celebrates our Year 13s

Audrey Basilio

Thanksgiving Mass was held on 29 October 2025 at Saint Lukes Parish, before the senior students entered study leave, for NCEA exams.

The entire school invited guests, parents, and senior leadership team, came together to celebrate this special occasion. Alongside, Father Benedict Francis, our senior students, helped lead our school’s Thanksgiving Mass. His homily showcased the idea of letting Jesus guide you within your future endeavours, which touched the hearts of the many Year 13 students.

Finally, Mass concluded with the annual tradition at Sancta Maria College, which saw the handing over of the college candle from head prefects, Deigo Carillo Trevino and Mikaela Bangalan to the youngest students at our school. This is a symbolism of the head prefects handing over their hard work to the junior school for not only safe keeping, but also as an influence to consistently show dedication and love towards our school.

Diego Carrillo Trevino and Mikaela Bangalan concluded Mass by expressing their gratitude, commitment and dedication for the privilege of serving as head prefects for the school.

As the final chords of the last song faded away at the end of the Mass, Sancta Maria College was feeling refreshed and ready to finish off the year on a positive note, giving thanks to our Year 13s and senior students as they prepare for exams and life’s journey beyond school.

Thank you to our Special Character team and all the students who helped organise a beautiful Mass.
