Welcoming new international students into our whānau

Our Kura is very lucky to welcome new international students from Japan and China into our whānau this term.  Some are here for just one term and others are long-term students, intending to finish their secondary school education with us.

We would also like to thank and acknowledge the homestay families which open their homes to host our wonderful students, and our student buddies for their daily support within school.  Both services make the transition from their home countries to a new country (and school) as smooth and caring as possible, while the students navigate a new language, culture, family, and school life.  This is no mean feat, and it is our school community that ensures these students are cared for with every step, ensuring they can maximise their experience and learning in New Zealand.

They, along with all our new staff and students, were officially welcomed into the school with a mihi whakatau on Monday 2 February 2026.

These students are here to immerse themselves in our school environment, to experience and grow from their education experience, and to make new friends across the globe.  They strive to be global citizens, and we encourage them to share their culture and way of life with us, just as they’re learning about ours.  Thank you to everyone who helps create the warm, welcoming environment we are so well known for, and for the manaakitanga/hospitality that makes us so special and helps shape the lifelong memories these students will carry with them from this incredible experience.
