During the recent Howick Junior Summit hosted by the Howick Youth Council, Jayden Chen (Year 10) won the prestigious “HYC Award.” This annual event focuses on empowering young people in our communities to realise their leadership potential, with this year’s theme being “The Power of Yourself.”
The award itself is presented to an outstanding, all-rounded participant and leader.
The Howick Youth Council team noted that they were thoroughly amazed by the breadth of leadership Jayden displayed and the exceptional way he conducted himself throughout the day. He was highly active in all activities, consistently helped others, and was identified as a participant with immense leadership potential within our community.As a result of his stellar efforts, Jayden has also received an opportunity to serve as an intern and attend several Howick Youth Council meetings next term. For context, the Howick Youth Council is a volunteer collective of 31 young people from across the Howick ward. Operating with the support and funding of the Howick Local Board, they focus on creating opportunities for, representing, and empowering young people in our community.
