Year 12 learn social responsibility during day out

Audrey Basilio

As a part of our Physical Education course, the entire Year 12 cohort were invited to partake in Leisure Day on Friday 5 June 2026 to demonstrate the value of social responsibility and conduct outside the classroom.

Divided into three groups, the students rotated between Paradice Ice Skating, Timezone Bowling, and Gravity.

Participating in these activities promoted social responsibility amongst the students; we encountered multiple challenges such as fear of falling in ice skating, failing to hit the desired pins in bowling and more. However, as classmates, we had the willingness to help and support each other, demonstrating not only social responsibility, but also learning the value of respect, growth of friendships and encouragement in the process. Moreover, demonstrating these values within the public arena and in front of teachers, further enhancing social responsibility for the future.

Undoubtedly, there were minor injuries that occurred throughout the day. However, despite these setbacks, the students remained positive and continued the activities, even when faced with fear and challenges. The challenges faced helped build resilience, teamwork, and confidence, making Leisure Day an enjoyable and valuable experience for everyone!

Overall, Leisure Day successfully demonstrated the importance of social responsibility and strengthening of friendships, helping create lasting and cherished memories amongst the Year 12 cohort – in readiness for next year’s leadership roles.
