Here are testimonials from our Year 9 students who represented the school at the recent Readers Cup competition held at Sacred Heart College.
Abby Story-Frayling:
The Year 9 Readers Cup was such a fun and inspiring experience! It wasn’t just about answering questions, it was about discovering new stories, bonding with teammates, and testing our memory in a fast-paced quiz environment. We spent time preparing by reading the selected books carefully, discussing characters and themes, and quizzing each other. It felt amazing to cheer each other on and watch everyone’s hard work pay off during the competition which was held in Sacred Heart College.
Theresa Mathew:
I enjoyed the Readers Cup competition because it was very fun, a great experience, I met new people and worked collaboratively with them. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in a fun experience with food at the end.
Sithuli Kulasinghe:
The Readers Cup was such an interesting and memorable experience for me! Our team of four left in the morning in high spirits. We arrived at Sacred Heart College and immediately were amazed at the sights and sounds of the event. We worked as a team to answer questions, upholding each other throughout the challenge! At the end we got a delightful and delicious morning tea, and returned to school, with energised minds, happy hearts and full stomachs!
Clara Gallagher:
The Readers Cup experience was enjoyable, though a bit challenging. We were required to read six novels and remember key points about them to answer the questions on competition day. The novels were fun to read and I’m glad I participated as it expanded my reading genre, it developed my team-building skills and experience and tested my retention skills.
Thank you, Abby, Theresa, Sithuli, and Clara for your efforts in preparing for the competition and representing our school with pride.
