Our Year 8 trip to MOTAT gave us insight into how early technology paved the way for new inventions to take their place in current society. Transitioning from the 1800s inspired MOTAT village to the modern science and technology centre was jarring but eye-opening. It showcases how inventions are rarely new but just improved versions of older concepts.
One of the most memorable experiences was the print shop. Our group watched how technology progressed and how the machines became significantly easier to operate, eventually giving rise to the modern printer. This area is a perfect example as to how MOTAT blends history with current technology to provide an immersive experience for everyone involved.
Ultimately, visiting MOTAT showed me how innovation is an ongoing process of improving the ideas of the past. Looking at how far technology has come leaves me excited to see how the new generation will evolve to shape our future.
