Drama is an exciting course; one that gives you the chance to explore the world we live in and yourself, while teaching you the skills and confidence for performance through its interactive program.
Drama began as a year 10 option course in 2007. It has gained in popularity with student's over the time to become a full and rewarding course option covering Year 9 to Year 13. The Drama course encompasses the essential skills to prepare students for NCEA level 1-3 Drama, while providing a fun and exciting way to develop their talents.
The course explores practically the following areas: actor training, theatre techniques, plays in theatre, playmaking and building, playwrighting, solo and group devising, stage technology, text in performance and deconstructing texts.
Journals are an essential component of the continuous assessment of students. Students are expected to write reflective journal entries throughout the year. The Journal can also include clippings from newspapers, pictures and magazine articles and information relevant to the current Unit of study.
