A win and a loss on Day 1

Sancta Maria’s premier UNISS netball team (Sophia Ibbetson, Ashleigh Swainbank, Tahlisa Stevens, Holly Maunsell-Young, Sina Maunsell-Young, Gemma Holt, Mia Gilchrist, Jorey Matulino, Shawna Stowers, Aerin Henry, Sarah Wallen, and Hannah Ralph-Smith), coached by Kathryn Stonehouse and managed by Robyn Wallen arrived on the North Shore for their tournament.

The girls departed school at 2pm on Sunday and arrived at Auckland North Shore Motels and Holiday Park. Following this, they had an evening training at the courts to ensure that they were well prepared for their opening games.

Monday the 2nd of September marked day one of the tournament. The girls first game was against Hauraki Plains College. The team played exceptionally well in all aspects: attacking, defending, driving and passing, with a focus on “pass and go.” The girls took out the win 38-8.

The second game was a lot tougher for our netball girls when playing against Tauhara. The team put up a good effort in a challenging game but lost 38-22.

The day concluded with the team doing hot and colds to relax their muscles and going to Takapuna beach for the afternoon.

We wish the team the best of luck for tomorrow’s game and for the rest of the week.
