Baseball tournament a great experience for Gabriel

Over the holidays, 13-year-old Gabriel Lesoa represented New Zealand overseas in a Regional Baseball Tournament in China.

Gabriel, in Year 9, travelled overseas to play baseball for New Zealand. After winning Nationals, Gabriel and his team competed at the Junior and Senior League baseball Asia-Pacific and Middle East World Regional Tournament in China. Representing New Zealand as a member of the Howick Pakuranga Under 19 Hawks Baseball team, Gabriel placed 3rd overall!

After playing baseball for ten years, starting at just three years old, he is now growing into a wonderful baseball player. Representing our country in such a competitive regional tournament he said, “It was scary at the beginning but it was overall a fun experience.”

It is wonderful to see young students at Sancta Maria College accomplishing such amazing achievements. It goes to show that if you work hard, you can achieve anything! Even at a young age, there are so many opportunities out there so go ahead and take them! Gabriel has done an amazing job so far, but his journey doesn’t end here. This is just the beginning.
