Fantastic win for SMC at French Speech Competition!

A group of Year 9 and 10 French students came home with major wins from the Auckland Junior French Speech competition held at Auckland Normal Intermediate last week.

The rewards were well deserved as these students spent the past few weeks preparing, memorising and fine tuning their speeches with guidance from Madame Read.

The topic for Year 9 was on what they like and the Year 10’s had to speak about teenagers.

The results were:

Georgia Cuer – 3rd place in Year 9.

Cyprus Causer – 1st place in Year 9 open.

Johann Ang – 2nd place in Year 10.

Anna Sajan – 1st in Year 10.

The team was completed by Maree Enricoso who also did well in her speech.

Between the speeches, there was a quiz, with some students winning lollies. To bring in the French essence, there were crepes for sale at morning tea and lunch.

A huge thanks to Madame Read who spent a lot of her time helping us with our speeches.

We look forward to competing next year as well – Allez Les Bleus!
