Primo Orchestra Receives Orchestral Mentoring

September is proving to be just as busy for our Primo Orchestra as August was for our other ensembles. Having given their first public performance of the year at last week’s Year 7 assembly, our youngest classical players spent Sunday afternoon in the company of violinist James Jin from the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, who gave them a mentoring session ahead of two further big performances this week. They are pictured here with James.

This coming Friday will see the Primo Orchestra perform for our Primary School in preparation for a competitive turn at the Lewis Eady Junior Music Contest at Ponsonby Primary School the following Saturday afternoon. This is a big challenge for our young players, many of whom have only started playing their instruments this year, but this sort of experience will serve them well as they continue to progress towards ultimately playing in our Concert Band, Symphonia and Big Band.

Once again, we would like to thank the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra for all the sterling mentoring work they have done with our young musicians of all age ranges and ability levels, this year.
