SEZ Athletics

Tuesday started off bright and sunny as we headed to the South Eastern Zone Athletics. The team of approximately 50 students was all psyched up for the upcoming activities.

With a slight delay due to traffic, we arrived at Mt. Smart Stadium in time for the 1500m race. The morning weather was going well until it began to rain hard. Everyone had to move into the stands for cover for quite some time before the rain stopped and we could continue with our events.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the end of our weather mishaps. Rain decided to act up once more, even with a storm of hail! Thunder and lightning decided to make a scene as well.

In the end, the finals for the 100m sprint races and the relay race had to be moved to Wednesday at Lloyd Elsmore Park. Even so, everyone had done a phenomenal job at representing the school in each of their events despite the weather taking most of the spotlight.
