Students perform at the Lewis Eady Chamber Music Showcase

After a long drive to Remuera, a small group of Sancta Maria College’s young musicians spent Wednesday evening at the Lewis Eady Chamber Music Showcase and performed two pieces from the hit musical Hamilton.

The chamber group, named the Elan Ensemble, consists of Novyna Tolentino (voice), Quintin Wong (piano), Kres Bosales (violin), Jennifer Zeng (cello), Ana Ganias (guitar) and Alanna Santoso (viola). They performed That Would Be Enough and Burn, both written for the part of Eliza Hamilton by Lin-Manuel Miranda, which they have been rehearsing since late last year.

Alongside our ensemble, the night also featured groups from Diocesan School for Girls, St Peter’s College and St Kentigern’s College, some of which were a string octet, a brass quintet and a clarinet quartet. This led to what was an incredible showcase enjoyed by all in attendance.

Overall, the night was a brilliant experience for our young musicians, who thoroughly enjoyed every minute and learned from watching other performances.

Special thanks to Lewis Eady for organising the event and making it such an entertaining event.
