Production season has finally arrived. With Sancta Maria College’s production of Grease quickly approaching we give you a little inside scoop on our young actors and actresses who will be taking the stage.
Our very finest, Vincent Plucknett and Elizabeth Ralph-Smith, have taken the lead roles of Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsson.
Vincent and Elizabeth, and the rest of the Grease cast, have worked extremely hard to try and make this year’s production as amazing as can be.
Below, Vinnie and Lizzie have given their little scoop on their characters and the production.
Vincent Plucknett tells us:
“Hi, I’m Vinnie and I’m playing the role of Danny Zuko in the musical ‘Grease’. The role of Danny is quite an interesting one considering how cool the character is and how uncool I am in real life. So, I do find it quite challenging to play Danny since I have no clue about how to be cool.
When I first saw the production cast list and I saw my name I was thrilled but as soon as I saw my name next to Danny I was speechless. I had to make sure it was right, so I googled Danny Zuko and realised I was the lead, I was over the moon.
When I leave school I want to pursue a career in acting and I thought no better way to start it would be by auditioning for production and since my sister did production and said how much fun it was I thought why not? I’ll give it a go. I also wanted to compete with my sister.
Considering the whole cast has put so much time and hard work into the production, I do hope our dreams are realised. I hope our audiences will be really impressed and they won’t be wanting any refunds, considering all the time and effort we have put into this fantastic production.”
Elizabeth Ralph-Smith continued:
“I’m playing the role of Sandy in the 2018 production of ‘Grease’. When they announced the roles, I was really excited but also quite nervous because I knew it would be a big challenge (one that I hope will pay off).
I was a cast member of the 2016 production, ‘The Sound of Music’, which I really enjoyed, so I wanted to be part of this one too. I also wanted to create as many memories in my final year as possible with great people around me and being part of ‘Grease’ has definitely helped me do that.
I hope that this production will be a way of bringing different people together to enjoy a fun new take on a classic film that we all know and love.
I hope it is also a very exciting evening not only for the audience but also the cast and band members who have worked extremely hard over the year to put on this production.”
